A continuous tone when attempting to charge the PL1/K1 typically indicates a battery fault. However, if the unit is outside of its warranty period, we cannot guarantee that it will function effectively even after the battery has been replaced.

Although replacement batteries are available as spare parts and can be installed on site, the original battery within the unit is secured in place. Replacement batteries are not supplied with adhesive or fixing materials. As a result, unless the new battery is secured during installation, it may move or rattle in the unit.

Additionally, removing the original battery can be somewhat challenging, as it is firmly affixed. While this may not be ideal, the intention is to ensure that replacement batteries remain available as spare parts rather than not being offered at all.

How do I install the replacement battery?

Unscrew the 8 case screws to remove the front of the unit.
Disconnect the positive and negative battery leads from the battery. These are push fit spades on the battery itself.
Use a screwdriver or similar to lever the battery away from the foam adhesive pad.
Re-connect the new battery. IMPORTANT: the positive and negative battery leads must be connected to the correct positive and negative terminals when re-connecting. Red to red. Black to black.
If desired, use double sided adhesive tape to secure the battery in place.
